Zak Stambor recently wrote an article in the Chicago Tribune Let Brown Ales Reassure, Comfort. Stambor made some great points- Brown Ales are a comfort beer. He wrote “Without over-the-top hops or unusual ingredients, brown ales are about balance and subtlety.”
While you might think summer should be about Light Lagers, don’t overlook Brown Ales. Different breweries add various flavors and complexity all while keeping to the Brown Ale style. Consider starting your summer grilling season with a marinated steak paired with Hook & Ladder’s Backdraft Brown. You can find the recipe here: Cooking with Beer: Backdraft Flank.
