Open It! Beer Review: Imperial Stout by Nøgne Ø Highland Edition

If anyone can tell me how to pronounce “Ø” that would be appreciated. The Highland Edition of the Imperial Stout is aged for three months in Scotch Whiskey barrels. I bought this beer for $10 about the same as the Dogfish Head World Wide Stout. This beer was about twice the volume and half the ABV. I felt like I got so much more out of this beer. Excellent job folks!
Tasting Notes:
Imperial Stout pours like motor oil with a thin tan head, and has a slight booze aroma, but primarily chocolate and coffee aromas. The taste does follow the nose. Initial flavor of whiskey with malt and a bitterness at the end. This is a light bodied beer and almost seemed to flow across my tongue like water.
Pairing Notes:
On the second glass I had a piece of plain cheesecake. It really mellowed the flavor out. Good pairing, but if you never had the beer before make sure you try it without the food first.
