Kona is Joining the Can Beer Movement

Kona Brewing will be canning their popular Longboard Island Lager. A release date or location availability has not been set.
The move towards canned beer makes sense for Kona for several reasons:
- Canning is more sustainable and the brewery places a large emphasis on being green. Kona may be a “Hawaiian beer”, but it is actually bottled (or soon to be canned) in Portland, Oregon and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The only beer produced on the islands is available on draft, keg, and growlers. Cans are lighter than bottles reducing shipping costs and their air tight seals preserve quality and flavor. - Cans go everywhere, including the beach, golf courses and pools. (check your local laws first)
- Canning is trendy. Craft beer has seen an increase in canned beer, and it only makes sense for other breweries to join the movement.
