Ben Franklin is quoted as saying “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy”.  Franklin might not be international but his thought is a great way to kick off International Beer Day.  August 5 is the day to celebrate all those who make, sell and drink beer.  The day started organically in 2007 when a few friends decided to celebrate.  It quickly caught on and bars across the world host special events for the day.

According to www.internationalbeerday.com, the purpose the the day is summarized in three points:

1) To gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer.
2) To celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer.
3) To bring the world together under the united banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures together on this one remarkable day.

You can also find events by googling ‘international beer day + your home town’ or check out this website.  With 278 + celebrations in 138 different cities over 23 countries you are sure to find something.  If not may we suggest having a St. Lupulin by Odell Brewing Co. or Hell or High Watermelon by 21st Amendment with friends?
